Detroit Car Accident Attorney – New Radar Gun Could Show Drivers Who Text And Drive

A Virginia company announced last month that a newly-created device may soon be available for law enforcement to determine drivers who are texting, talking on or otherwise using their cell phones while driving.  As your Detroit car accident attorney, I am well aware of the number of accidents attributed to distracted driving each year.

Detroit Car Accident Attorney Explains New Technology

According to an article in the Virginian Pilot, ComSonics, a Virginia-based tech company, is developing  technology that could distinguish different frequencies emitted from cell phones that could tell officers if someone was texting, sending an email or talking on the phone.

In areas where talking on the phone is permitted, but texting and emailing is not, this technology could come in quite useful for law enforcement.

According to the article, the device is “close to production,” but still needs to get both legislative approval and receive adoption by law agencies.

According to the developer, the technology would not be able to read what was sent via text messages or other frequencies.

Similar new technologies have been met with skepticism initially, but only time will tell if this technology is both effective as well as easy to use.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 6,000 people were killed and another 500,000 were injured in accidents involving a distracted driver.

If you or your loved one has suffered serious personal injury in any type of motor vehicle accident, it is important to talk with an experienced Detroit car accident attorney today. Call for your free, initial consultation.
